Spaced Repetition: The Secret Study Technique Softies Need to Try

Hey there, fellow softies!

It's Livvy here, and I'm excited to share with you one of my favorite study techniques: spaced repetition

If you're like me, you know how tough it can be to remember information for the long-term. But fear not - with spaced repetition, you'll be able to master even the most challenging material.

So what is spaced repetition, exactly?

At its core, spaced repetition is a study technique that involves reviewing material at gradually increasing intervals over time. By spacing out your reviews of information in this way, you're able to reinforce your memory of that information more effectively.

Here's an example of how spaced repetition might work in practice:

Let's say you're trying to learn a new language. Rather than cramming for hours the night before a big test, you might use a spaced repetition app like Anki to review vocabulary words at regular intervals. The app will show you each word at increasing intervals - for example, you might see a word again after 1 day, then 3 days, then 1 week, and so on. By spacing out your reviews in this way, you're able to reinforce your memory of the words more effectively over time.

But why is spaced repetition so effective?

One reason is that it takes advantage of the "forgetting curve," which is the idea that we forget information at an exponential rate over time. By spacing out your reviews of information, you're able to reinforce your memory of that information at just the right intervals to counteract this forgetting curve.

So, if you're looking for a study technique that can help you remember information for the long-term, give spaced repetition a try. It may take a little bit of extra effort to set up, but the payoff in terms of improved memory and retention is well worth it.

And remember, fellow softies - be kind to yourself as you learn. Learning is a process, and it's okay to make mistakes along the way. With spaced repetition in your study toolkit, you'll be well on your way to mastering even the toughest material.

Until next time, happy studying!
