Test Yourself


Hey there, Softies! 

Livvy here, and I've got a great topic to talk about today: testing yourself when you study. 

I know, I know, tests can be nerve-wracking, but hear me out. 

When you test yourself while you study, you actually reinforce what you've learned, and that's a good thing!

So, how can you test yourself while you study? Here are a few ideas:

Flashcards: This classic study tool is still a great way to test yourself. Write a question on one side and the answer on the other, and test yourself until you know the answer without even looking.

Practice quizzes: Many textbooks and study guides come with practice quizzes. Take advantage of them! If your materials don't include practice quizzes, try searching online for some that are relevant to your subject.

Teach someone else: The best way to reinforce your knowledge is to teach it to someone else. So, find a willing friend or family member and explain the material to them.

Summarize: After you've finished studying a topic, try summarizing it in your own words. This is a great way to test yourself on whether you've truly understood the material.

Testing yourself while you study is a great way to ensure that you've really absorbed the material. And, when it comes time to take the actual test, you'll be much more confident and prepared. 

So, give it a try! Test yourself (study) and see the results for yourself.

To add on, testing yourself can also help you identify areas where you may need to focus your studying efforts. 

If you consistently struggle with a particular question or topic, you'll know that you need to spend more time reviewing that material.

Another tip is to mix up the order of the questions or information when testing yourself. 

This can help you avoid memorizing the order of the questions and answers, and instead focus on truly understanding the material.

And don't forget to reward yourself for your hard work! 

After a successful study session, treat yourself to something you enjoy, like a favorite snack or TV show. 

This can help motivate you to keep up the good work.

So, Softies, don't be afraid to test yourself while you study. 

It's a great way to reinforce your knowledge and prepare for success.

Hey there, Softies!  Have you ever considered using a whiteboard as a study tool?  Whiteboards can be an incredibly useful aid in organizing and memorizing information.  Here are some ways you can incorporate a whiteboard into your study routine: 1. Mind-mapping : Use the whiteboard to create a mind map of a topic you're studying. Start with a central idea and branch out with related concepts, using different colors and arrows to connect them. 2. Formulas and equations : If you're studying math or science, a whiteboard is perfect for practicing formulas and equations. You can easily erase and start over until you've mastered the concept. 3. Using mnemonic devices

Hey there, Softies!  It's Livvy again, and I'm here to talk about one of my favorite study techniques: using mnemonic devices. Mnemonic devices are memory aids that help you remember information.  They work by associating the information with something else that's easier to remember.  Here are a few examples: Acronyms : These are words formed from the first letter of each word in a list. For example, to remember the order of operations in math (parentheses, exponents, multiplication/division, addition/subtraction), you can use the acronym PEMDAS. Rhymes : Rhymes can be used to remember lists of words or phrases. For example, "i before e, except after c, or when sounding like 'ay' as in neighbor and weigh." Acrostics : These are sentences where each word starts with the first letter of a list of words you're trying to remember. For example, to remember the planets in order from the sun, you can use the acrostic "My very eager mother just served us ...
